Single-use plastic; mankind's greatest design failure. Lasts forever, but used once and thrown away. And with a truckload of it entering our oceans every minute, we are creating one of the most significant pieces of modern history: The Plastic Soup.

And because 99.99% of us will never experience it for ourselves. We decided to bring a section from far out in the Pacific Ocean, to the institutes founded to educate people about the history of mankind and nature: Natural History Museums.

The Oceanic Plasticarium; A sample of the millions and millions just like it in our oceans. Put on display for all of us to see with our own eyes. Showing mankind’s impact on nature and inspiring all of us to make a change.

The plastic in the Oceanic Plasticarium was sourced from the Pacific Ocean by Greenpeace in 2018. The container measures 140 x 140 x 140 cm (55 x 55 x 55 inches) and holds 2,700 liters (713 gallons) of water. The coordinates 135°W 35°N refer to an area in the north-central Pacific Ocean where the plastic was collected.
